Philanthropy has always been an essential part of our social responsibility. Even the founding fathers of Rahn+Bodmer Co. regularly supported Zurich institutions. We continue to express our solidarity with Zurich through our current social commitments. These include the multi-year funding of a doctoral position and an assistant professorship at the University of Zurich, as well as personal involvement on the board of trustees of the Right To Play organisation.

Our commitments are
geared towards sustainability.

Investment in Zurich as a research centre
We support Zurich as a research centre with a multi-year financial contribution to the Neuroscience Center Zurich (ZNZ), a joint competence centre of ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich aimed at achieving synergies in research and teaching among the approximately 1,000 neuroscientists. The ZNZ consists of scientists from ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich as well as the University’s hospital and clinics.

In the coming years, we will provide funding to the ZNZ for an assistant professor position, postdocs and doctoral students as well as resources for research into neurodegenerative illnesses such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis. Dr Christian Rahn is also personally involved as a member of the Patronage Committee of the ZNZ.

Children’s University of Zurich
The Children’s University of Zurich helps children who are looking for answers and explanations for the world’s most fascinating phenomena. In pursuit of this goal, the Children’s University organises lectures and courses with scientists for primary-school children from the third to sixth grades. Rahn+Bodmer Co. has supported the Children’s University of Zurich since it was founded in 2005.

Support for the next generation
The international organisation Right To Play gives disadvantaged children and young people in around 20 countries essential skills through play. Martin H. Bidermann has been actively involved in an honorary capacity on the board of trustees of Right To Play Switzerland for a number of years.

Right To Play uses specially developed game- and sport-based methods to teach children vital values and skills that help them take life into their own hands.

To achieve a sustainable impact, the foundation works closely with local organisations and government bodies on site. Teachers and coaches are trained in game-based teaching methods. They design child-friendly and playful lessons to create positive learning experiences for children and impart important life skills.

Every week, 1.9 million children worldwide participate in the games and sports activities of Right To Play. Play is not a luxury. It is the optimal means of communicating educational and health information. Right To Play is playing for sustainable change in the five domains of education quality, health, gender equality, the protection of children and peace.

Success in a post-athletic career
Rahn+Bodmer Co. supports the Athletes Network platform started by ex-footballer Beni Huggel as part of a multi-year partnership. The platform supports athletes in transitioning from an active athletic career to a post-athletic career. Top athletes receive networking and coaching opportunities to help them gain an economic foothold and develop themselves both personally and professionally.

The Athletes Network increases awareness of the transition to a post-athletic career as a change which is both holistic and complex. The organisation focuses on people and their potential.
